No more mess in your map! This tweak enable the MakerCluster on your map, useful for maps with a lot of pins. Basically it shows up a Pin with a “count” of pins in a specified area, when clicking on it it will shows what’s inside.
In order to make it work, you need access to your FTP because you need to overwrite two files.
NOTE- in the demo page you will see the marker cluster plugin working together with the Info Auto Window addon
.
If you want both addons, go here http://simone.themetailors.com/store/products/geotheme-marker-cluster-map-auto-info-window/
Tested with GeoTheme 3.2.3 and latest WP (v3.5)
V 1.1.2 – added Marker Cluster on the Event List Page Map
V 1.1- fixed the issue with the listing page widget
For: GeoTheme
You need to buy this product to receive support!

This is Great Addon!! thanks n0ise!
you’re welcome
Hi n0ise,
I like the concept but when I installed it, the map goes to Spain and changes the language of my map. Also, the listings aren’t showing anymore. Maybe something to do with the map.js file? Let me know how I can fix this please!
Thanks!
Hello, I’ve fixed the issue, you should see it online soon.
Edit: everthing is fixed now. a new demo installation is available here http://bit.ly/U4bg7Q
Hi. noise
So far works really well ftp upload refresh done.. with around 1k listings
lets see in a few days on 10k
as always a question the yellow and red of the markers can they be changed ? or is that google api ?
Customizing the icons involve the change of the style parameters , here it’s explained better http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4416089/google-maps-api-v3-custom-cluster-icon
I just bought and implemented this plugin, and it’s not working: http://kidsbusybook.com/
I have followed the instructions, except to place the files in my child theme. Does it only work if you put it in the main theme?
-Insert home_map_widget.php in wp-content/themes/GeoTheme/library/map
-Insert map.js in wp-content/theme/GeoTheme/library/js/
remeber to backup your previous files.
Hello, I do have a child theme as well
and my files are in the parent theme
(geotheme). I did not try to move the folders in the child theme, you can give a try
I can try what? I already have them in my child theme and it is not working.
I meant to try moving the library folder in the child. If its not working this way I suppose it will not work
I hate to ask, but if it won’t work in the child theme, I’d like a refund. I don’t want to keep figuring out how to get the map clusters working again each time GeoTheme is updated. If you implement this as a simple plugin in the future, I would like to hear about it.
Its a very good plugin ! 2 files to replace ONLY and such great result, when core update is….. just upload 2 files again. there is no setting etc. takes 1 sec……
As swisswebwork said, you just need to replace the two files. If a geotheme update will change also the two files, it’s useless having the files in a child theme because in every case it shouldn’t work .
Hi so far np for the plugin , works perfect
I just have a request for the next update, please try to make it possible that the markers show as well on the the large map for category listings.
Thanks
Hello, thanks for the hint I will keep in mind for the next update.
Thanks,
Simone
Hi there. looks like found a limit… I got now 5437 listings on a map . Map stops showing the markers. I got the feeling that there is a linit at 5k. Had to switsch of the maps alltogether as map does not load anymore
Hello, i will try to replicate the numer of pins and test it out hoping to find a solution.
Does this translate to the app as well? That is where I really want it to apply
I don’t have the app but I don’t think it will be the same on the iOS app because it is a standalone project which has only the database in common with the website.
Hi. looks like i found another bug. When cluster is installed the widget map on place listing dows not work, when clicked on pinpoint
I had to replace the files now with original files to make it work again
Hi, do you mean the map in the details page, with the indications? If so, i see it working on my side.
Hi. i mean here but you dont have the map widget there
Ok, I’ve insrted the widget and I see the issue, i will try to fix it asap
Hello… Just purchased the plug-in and I do see cluster icons on my map. However, the “cluster area” (i.e. the “grid-size” to tally up location numbers) seems to be very small since other icons are “bunched up” right next to the cluster icon. My questions are: 1) How can I increase the size of the “cluster area” (i.e. evaluation grid-size) and 2) what is the minimum number of icons that trigger a cluster icon to appear?
Hello, it can be customised in the map.js. look for this code
mClusterer = new MarkerClusterer(map, markers, {
gridSize: 30,
minimumClusterSize:10,
maxZoom:17
});
and change minimum cluster size and the max zoom
Thanks for the quick reply…!! I found the code and I’m loving the plug-in… Thanks again for making it…!
thanks to you, you’re welcome
Hi Just bought this and added it to my site. I followed the instructions but I have the grey screen on the map with the revolving counter circle. Currently have the latest version of WordPress 3.5 and Geotheme 3.2.2 – Does this plugin work with the latest versions? Thanks
Hello,I’ve tested the plugin with GT 3.1.0 and WP 3.5 and it is working. It may have conflict with something on your websites, try to deactivate the installed plugins and let me know.
Does this cluster pin work only on homepage google map or does it work with category listing map too?
It works in category listing too
Hi I updated your mod and now my clusters are no longer showing on the map only the map icons are showing iIm using WordPress 3.5 and Geo Theme 3.3.3.
I will update the files soon (maybe tomorrow )
Hi, please let me know the url of your website so I can take a look.
Thanks
http://downthelocal.com.au/ Thank you
I see it working properly
Could it be in a cache some where I haven’t been able to see it since the update and my dad is unable to see it on his computer as well.
That’s strange. I tried now on iPad with two different browsers and I see it working as well
I’ve tried with 2 computers on Firefox and Chrome and have all so cleared the cache and still no luck, have also tried on my android phone its very odd that i cant see it any ideas?
The issue is now solved its showing now it seems as if there was some sort of caching issue some where. Thanks for your helpful support
Purchased this yesterday and can’t get it to work. No change on the map what so ever. Any idea what the prob could be. I’m using Geo Theme – 3.1.3, and latest WordPress 3.5. I have fairly customised child theme, I’ve installed all files in the main Geo Theme Directory. My site is http://www.myhappykids.com
Cheers
Hello,I had a look in your website and i see that the current map.js is not the one provided with the addon (you can see by adding wp-content/themes/GeoTheme/library/js/map.js after your website url), also, before making any modification please put cloudflare in development mode (you can do that from the cloudflare dashboard). Please use the Supoprt button on top of this page so I can reply faster,
S.
The above user has resolved the issue, it was due to CDN caching.
Hi Simone, just purchased and installed on http://www.sevenoaksdirectory.com but now no icons are showing on map. I am also using CloudFlare and have checked that domain is in ‘development mode’.
Can you help please?
Regards
JohnH
Hello John, it is not showing any icon because all the categories in the map are unchecked, try to check/select one or more category and you will see it working
Thanks for quick reply Simone.
Yes, I can see that now. I had assumed the code would replicate the default in GeoTheme that show all listings if no categories are selected?
Actually it doesn’t replicate this “feature” but it is in my to do list, so in the next days I will update the plugin including the list of all categories if no one is selected
I have just installed it, too. The map on the homepage does not show markers ulsess you check a cetegory. Could it be set up so that the map initially shows the markers the way it did – show all markers regardless the categories check?
@ mitrich: actually it works only for te selected categories, so if you want to show all the categories you should select them before in the backend
I hate to ask, but could you please tell me where in the backend I should look for that optiion to pre-select the categories to be shown on the homepage map?
Sure, you’ll find it in the ‘manage city’ section
no cluster count on this one, what’s up with that?
On the demo that is, where is it?
sorry i dont get it. the demo is working fine, showing the cluster count. what do you mean?
I must have not been zoomed out far enough, now it appears to be zooming out far enough by default when I first go to it, but the other day I didn’t see it. I still don’t see cluster count by default on the other add on though where I just responded. But, I see the cluster count when I zoom out… sorry… my boo boo:)
Hey, I bought and installed this and it’s working but I have two questions:
One, my map was a smaller than normal demension, 568 px by 300 px, but now it’s looking weird…. may just be me but it looks like the map is trying to be wider than that…
Two, is there a way to make it show a cluster count more often, like increase the sensitivity of it or something. My site is http://www.LiveInTheMusic.com and, for example, Nashville has a few people there and the icon is covering them all so it looks like there’s only one thing, but when you zoom in there’s at least three there…
Man, I’m going to have to remove this add on if I can’t change the map soon. Or change the layout of my homepage to compensate
Hey, I’ve been waiting since 5 days now and had to have my layout changed to compensate now for 5 days. Would love to make the map smaller but everything I try doesn’t effect the width now.
I replied to each of your emails 5 mins top after you sent them to me
check your spam folder it might be full
I check my “Junk Email” folder daily, maybe you need to check your “Drafts” or something. We interacted via email just fine last Saturday when you said you were away from your computer and would check everything.
Just tell me on here if you really sent an email, because I didn’t receive one at all from you after Saturday. I simply need to control the width of the map, I tried changing it through the GT Map widget, through some of your files, etc… and nothing works.
This plugin seems otherwise perfect, if I could just control the dimensions of my map! “GeoTheme is a map based theme” so it seems rather necessary to be able to control it. Most if not all of the best implementations of GT from what I’ve seen have had a smaller map on the home page in the “Front Content” widget area. Please make this possible so I can keep using your add on. Afterall, it works fine in every other way it seems so far the more I use it.
Well, this has been interesting. HERE’S THE DEAL.
So far this add on works perfectly, with the appropriate widget in place of course, in the following widget sections:
* Front Top Banner
* Place Listing Sidebar
* Event Listing Top Section (I have not tried this but nOise says it does so I believe it does)
* AND, it ALSO works wonderfully so far in the “Front Content” section with the “PT Google Map V3 Home page” widget if you DO NOT put “px” after the pixel number size.
So, I LOVE THIS ADD ON:) Now if we can just get it to work in the “Place Listing Sidebar” it will be “then be pefecto”.
Hope this helps someone! I know some people may want to employ this add on in their homepage via a smaller map. NOW YOU CAN;)
Did notice that on http://www.ThingsToDoInNC.com the cluster is working in the “Front Content” section only in google chrome and internet explorer, not in firefox though. 2 out of three aint bad:)
clear your cache
… click here -> https://dl.dropbox.com/u/35055/ff.png
Yeah, just double checked that I cleared my cache for firefox, it’s all good now, small map where I need it most in the three most important browsers
thanks man, sorry for blowing up the forum, wish I could remove and replace with just the idea and solution…
Hi, i just bought the component, I updated the files as from the instructions. The home map doesn’t show anything, it is blank, pls see the attachment: http://postimage.org/image/xl9fmm4yv/
- I have disable cache plugin, and clear the all the cache including browser cache
- i tried with few browser, nothing show in the map
- I’m using GT 3.2.2, child theme 1.3.4 and WordPress 3.4.2
Please advice on this issue, thanks
Hello, I wrote you an email asking for further details.
Great work I have it working. One question can we make it work in reactive mode??
Hello my friend. I just purchased this nice plugin. I am totally new to both wordpress and geotheme. Here is my problem: I have installed everything as descriped. Now the map is grey. It shows the map however as soon as I click on one of the categories on the right side of the map (e.g. Attractions, Festivals, etc. I still have the example geotheme content on). If now category is clicked the map shows no pins (normally now it would show ALL pins as you know). So 1.) How to deal with the grey map on first visit 2.) How do I enable the basic category functionality back to normal? Thank you!
Hello Aurelius, in order to show all the categories by default, you need to flag the categories in the backend of GeoTheme by going to Manage City and inside you will find the categoty list.
Thank you for your nice and quick reply.
I see. But wasnt it so, that if no categories are flagged, then the map normally shows ALL category pins? I saw it in the introduction video.
Yes indeed, but my addon works differently, sorry about that
Ah ok, so its indeed the plugin. Thank you.
By the way. You have made many plugins. What do you think of these new theme?:
http://themeforest.net/item/rentbuy-responsive-real-estate-wordpress-theme/4425988?sso
Would it be possible to create a plugin with these flying icons/images above the category pins? I think it looks great and would be good for premium customers.
That’s a VERY nice plugin. In my to-do list there is a new way of browsing pins on a map, that in some way is similar to this one (with images on the pins, when mouse hover), but it’s really in an early stage. Now I have almost complete a new layout for the detail page (friven with foursquare informations), you can take a look here http://bit.ly/138fWlJ, but we are going a little bit…off topic
Installed the plugin but it doesn’t seem to change anything. Put CDN into Development Mode and nothing is changed. I still see icons overlapping one another. Please help.
Hello, please use the red support button in this page and email me your website so I can take a look. At you using a child theme? Cache plugin ?
Just did.
GeoTheme Marker Cluster Map not Working
http://pocketpicks.biz/
place the following files in these folders: (make a backup first, just in case)
- home_map_widget.php, place_listing_map_widget and listing_map_widget.php in wp-content/themes/GeoTheme/library/map
- map.js and mapp.js in wp-content/themes/GeoTheme/library/jsenjoy
but not working
http://pocketpicks.biz/
If you go here http://pocketpicks.biz/wp-content/themes/GeoTheme/library/js/mapp.js as you can see there is none. If do you have any cache plugin disable it, and put cloudflare in development mode if you use it’s
Lol I found the issue, you created a folder named jsenjoy but you need to put the file into js , the enjoy in the file is an encouragement to enjoy the addon
